The city of dreaming spires is steeped in history and is synonymous with Oxford University, a world-renowned institution which is also the oldest in the English-speaking world. The atmospheric medieval streets and golden-stone college buildings are charming. A mere two-hour journey from London, the city is one of my favourites for a short getaway.
